Characteristic of Jan van Haasteren’s drawings are the many recurring elements. The real fan immediately looks for the shark fin, Jan’s trademark, in every record. But you also almost always encounter Sinterklaas, the hands, the dentures and Jan’s self-portrait. 

After his education at the Academy of Visual Arts, Jan van Haasteren started his career at an advertising agency and subsequently ended up in the comics world. He worked for Toonder Studios and Donald Duck, among others. In 1980, Jan started drawing special Royal Jumbo puzzles. This is the beginning of a fruitful collaboration and year after year beautiful puzzles with his drawings appear. 

In addition to puzzles, Jan van Haasteren’s cheerful and humorous artwork is now also used for agendas, calendars, greeting cards, search books, posters, stamps and gift items.
